The most common questions and the most unexpected(!?!) answers:

1. what is the price for the boat to lesbos, is it cheeper from turkey
than from greece? Where can i find a shedule for it?

It will take you 9-12 hours to come to Lesvos by boat from Athens, Thessaloniki or Kavala
1.30 hours to come from Turkey. However the conection with Turkey is not that stable.

Cost wise is more or less the same, and it should really depend on the cost of your flight to Greece or Turkey.

You could also check for charter flights directly to Lesvos
or domestic flights from Athens (aegean, athens, olympic)

Boats from Athens to Mytilene:

If you want you can call the travel agency “Kritsia Travel” in Athens and probably (if more than 20 other people travel the same day) we will get group ticket and a discount btw 5-7 euros per person. The telephone is 0030 -210 3305215 and you have to say you are calling from the NoBorder Camp.

2. where on Lesbos is the camp?

The camp site is at Charamida – Lesvos

~20km from Mytilene city

~10km from the airport

coming to the camp - map

there is a bus operating from Mytilene to Loutra but for the days of the camp there will be some buses going from the port to the camping site (in order for us to arrange this it will be very important to send us a mail with your arrival information).

3. do we stay in tents or is it indoors somewhere?

The camp space is a pine tree forest, by the sea.
You are expected to bring your own
equipment (tent – sleeping bag etc).
There is basic infrastructure, water and electricity, toilets, showers, kitchen.
Near the spot there are a few rent rooms, not many though.

4. is there a cost to participate?

No there is no participation cost. However, since the expenses are plenty, you are welcome to contribute what you can afford. Soon we will give an indicative “price” per person (it will be btw 20-30 euros for the week).

5. what about food, will we make it together and will there be vegan food? price for food?

There is going to be a vegan kitchen on spot offering two meals daily.
Participants of the camp are invited to
help in shifts. There will be no price for the food but we all have to contribute for the cost of it.

There will also be a mini bar for water, beer and refreshments.
Bringing your own meal equipment (plate fork-knife) is recommended.

A cantine operates nearby.

A few taverns are located in walking distance.

6. can we bring something or anything special that we should prepare
or be prepared for?

  • Anything you would need to free-camp and demonstrate.
  •  A small radio receiver, is very useful for the workshops during the camp. ALIS (http://www.babels.org/alis), the interpretation system, uses the FM band.
  • A spare pair of shoes. These are for the migrants who stay at Agiaso.

It is important to have in mind that controls by police are usual to the people who arrive by boat or plane (in order to know what to not bring).
